Historical Case Index Search

You have reached the Summit County Probate Court Historical Case Index. These search pages are provided as a service by Judge Elinore Marsh Stormer to assist the public in accessing records.

Case records of Estates, Guardianships, and Trusts filed from 08/18/87 through 12/28/99 are provided in this index. The information in this index is limited. You will be able to find case name or case number only. NO case docket or party information is provided through this index but is available for review in our Records Room during normal business hours of the Court at the Summit County Courthouse, 209 South High Street, Akron, Ohio 44308.

When using the Historical Case Index you will have six different criteria that you can use. The "Last Name", "First Name" and "Middle" are used to search for ONLY the case name. For example, if searching for an estate case, the name provided must be the name of the decedent. If searching for a guardianship case, the name provided must be the name of the ward. And if searching for a trust case, the name provided must be the name of the decedent. We do NOT recommend using "Middle" as a criteria because if a middle name or initial was not provided at the time of filing, the search results will not find a record. You can narrow your name search by providing the "Case Type." Rarely would you ever have to search by "Company."

If the case number is already known but you do not have the case name, you can search by using the "Case Number" criteria. However, when searching by case number, you must make sure you are using the correct case number format. This format is different than the one we currently use at the Court. The case type must be noted first by using its initial(s): (E) for Estates, (R) for Release of Administration, (G) for all Guardianships filed prior to May of 1994, (GM) for Minor Guardianships filed in May 1994 and after, and (T) for Trusts. Once you've provided the case initial(s), the two digit year must follow, then the two digit month followed by its three digit number. Hyphens must be included. For example, the first estate case filed in May of 1988 would be E88-05-001. The tenth minor guardianship filed in October of 1999 would be GM99-10-010.

After clicking Historical Case Index Search , the initial search page may take some time to load depending on the speed of your computer and Internet connection.
